Katie just became an Auntie yesterday when her brother and sister-in-law had their first child. So, today we went up to Sheffield to look at the little guy, Rafael. I was slightly fearing he might do that baby thing that freaks me out of looking far too serious and wise, but he turned out to be a bit of an impressionist. I’m not quite sure of whom, maybe the 1979 winner of the Swiss national gurning contest. He had a very mobile face. Milestone witnessed: first proper burp.
In other news, we embarked on the first leg of our church finding expedition, which was St Martins in the Bullring. The talk was about discipleship and included a practical demonstration of a random act of kindness – giving away toffee to the shoppers next door. This was scuppered by the Bullring security mafia who stopped them because they didn’t have a permit. I guess there’s some kind of message in that.
