I’m not sure if Katie was expecting No Country For Old Men, the new Coen brothers’ film to be quite so bloody; perhaps it was a case of trust of the directors overriding the subject matter, or more likely the subject matter not being investigated at all. Well, I can confirm that it is a return to form for the Coens, the critics are right. It reminded me heavily of The Terminator, but with more philosophy and an ever so slightly more human psychopathic killer. The tension, pace and photography were all spot on, although it did begin to run out of steam towards the (unexpected) ending. I don’t think I fancy living in Texas – it’s no country for younger men either.
