It will/was/is always be better on holiday

Today I am using a cunning tactic to keep to my quota of a blog entry a day by actually writing this article yesterday in Kings Cross. Yesterday is proving to be a very exciting day because we are preparing to do what we are now doing today, which is taking the train to Ghent in Belgium. My own personal experience of Belgium has not been great, but Katie assures me that it is a lively and cosmopolitan town in a very beautiful country. I will probably be trying to make up my mind about that right today, and I expect some experience that I have later on today will serve to verify her opinion. Right, I’d better stop because my brain is melting while trying which tense I should/should have/will be writing in. How do journalists do it?
